There are a few reasons to run fetchlands in a mono-colored deck. The most frequently cited one is deck thinning, although to be honest recent tests have made me doubt it's usefulness. Being a math major, k will at some point simply run the numbers, but it is a tedious computation. Deck thinning is not he only reason however. Fetchlands are useful for breaking out of fateseals (very relevent for any Aggro deck). There are a few other, meta-dependent reasons one might run them

Don't forget the best equipment ever printed kills aggro decks :)
This deck is tuned for consistency. As soon as I drop below 21 lands, I have to start worrying about landless lands, etc. Mox is a good accelerant, but I usually don't have metalcraft after Turn 1, and if I have multiple of him its a dead card.
Ichor is nice, but its too slow in my testing. Chieftain is great, but Goblin Wardriver is just much much more consistent for delivering a T3 kill. Concussive is waaaaaay to expensive for a deck like this. I will win the game before I have enough mana to cast it. Thanks for weighing in though :)
The problem with Boros Battlecry is that most people cost WW or RR. The reason Boros existed was Steppe Lynx, Mystic, Hawk, and Geopede. All of which cost 1W or 1R. In Legacy Boros Battle Cry might work, but not standard.
Thank's for calling me on that! I posted this late late at night lol. Don't worry, I'll put more thought into the next decks I post. It's nice to be back. I won't be able to spend a lot of time here unfortunately due to school, but keep checking back, I will be posting decks I develop during Calculus and Abstract Algebra :)
His point is that damage from combust cannot be prevented, so it kills Firewalker and other pro-red
What I do with him is simply hold him back in my hand until I see an important pw I can't kill right away, drop and sac. He's saved my ass several times before, mainly vs JTMS, Koth, and Gideon. First strike is also useful vs Aggro decks, since he doesnt die blocking basically all the relevent 1-drops in the format (the notable eventing being Steppe Lynx).
Note, don't take this as critisim of your deck, but rather an explination of what a Naya deck really is. Since my Atlanta PTQ, Naya is my favorite extended deck. I have not posted a decklist because I am working on perfecting my build and don't want it to leak before the next tourniment.
Very very clever, but not quite clever enough. I told you so. About the actual deck, its a good idea, but you are missing key Naya cards (Real Naya isn't Stompy). KoNA is NOT the best choice here, look at the Shadowmoor Lords instead. New Alara is better on paper, but being a 2/2 means you play it and it dies. Vengevine+Fauna Shaman is a big part of what makes this deck rediculous. KotR is actually amazing. A Naya deck uses KotR to fetch ETBT lands such as Sejiri Steppe for key tempo shifts. Kitchen Finks is another amazing 3 drop in this deck that you are lacking. Along witht he Fauna Shaman, Naya also runs 1-of a few 1-drops to tutor for as the moment requires. Scute Mob, Harrier, and the Forge Mystic are the most important ones. Naya is the ultimate utility deck, curving out at 4 and playing <4 spells so that BBE guarentees Vengevine Recursion. Good as the creature pool is, the best Naya decks can in no way be concidered Stompy.
Pretty decent deck, but the real thing that makes vampires such a powerful comno deck is it's ability to switch into a powerful aggro deck. I feel dropping the Lacerators really hurts the deck... I mean, it's one of the best 1 drops in standard. I saw many people doing 4 Gatekeepers in Atlanta, but everyone kept telling me they wished the were Hexmages. I just smiled and showed them my 4 hexmage list. Seriously, hexmage>gatekeeper. I think a 2/2 split is the most gates you should run. Feast of Blood is a bad choice, run Ascensions for the Boros/UB/everything but Valakut and elves matchup. Also, pyroclasm is an interesting way to kill your Bloodghasts (and one I tested before Atlanta) but your better off maxing the other burn spells.
Do you mean Panic spellbomb? Pyrectic isn't T2 legal... I thought about Panic Spellbomb, and I'm still not sure if it or mass is better tbh. Arc Trail and Koth are the card I usually drop
Sure thing :) Glad you like my decks. Anything labeled "Tournament Quality" is a deck I have ranked top 16 in a PTQ, SCG Open, ect in.
Pretty cool deck, though forgive me for saying it looks like a first try. You have most of the elements of a good control deck, but you also seem to have missed a few key cards. Max out the Tar Pits. Those guys are how you kill PWs, maybe drop the Tarns for them. Gideon Jura is a nice card, but I think he is better in creature heavy control decks rather than ones like this. JTMS would be a good replacement, or Baby Jace if you are on a budget. You also seem to be missing one of the key cards in UB control (and the reason the deck can work at all really), Consume the Meek. Since you are going Esper, I would do 2 Consume and 1 DoJ probably, though testing that would be a good idea. Spreading Seas is another important card, improving your match ups with Valakut and Br Vampires significantly. Journey to Nowhere is an inferior form of removal to Doom Blade and Go for the Throat (a MB card that is Doom Blade without the non-black restriction), and dropping these can give you the space for Spreading Seas. Baneslayer and Abby are not the right call here, go with 3 Grave Titans. You will not be disappointed. The last card should be another swamp. Most control decks run 26-28 lands because its crucial that they make every land drop in the first 5 turns. A final word of warning, this kind of control deck is very difficult to pilot well at first. The key is in which spells you stop and which you let through, a skill that can only be acquired by practice.
I wish I could use him, but I simply will never had the mana for him. MoE is sometimes stuck in my hand for a few turns if I'm unlucky, but him... I'd never get to play it :(
You know what would be a beast in a storm deck? Pyromancer's Ascension.
No dude... That's just false. You should get some experience playing competitive magic before you start making claims like this. Dont mean to be rude, but claims like that and the comments you have left on some of my decks make it hard to take you seriously. Also, SoM duel lands are some of the best duel lands ever. I play Extended and Standard at SCG Invitational Opens and I would never dream of playing a multi color deck without SoM duels. They are simply amazing.
Ummm... What? Dude... Your clueless.
Very cool deck concept! I would change up the lands a bit, and go with 4 Reflecting Pool, 4 Seachrome Coast, 4 Mystic Gate, 4 Celestial Colonnade, 3 Island, 3 Plains. Cryptic Command is an amazing card, and with this new mana-base UUU won't be a problem. Run 4 of them. Sun Titan is not really the best finisher for this deck, since he really shines is tapped-out. Try replacing one or two him with Wurmcoil Engine. My last comment is that this deck cannot really be called Tournament Quality because of the very card that makes this deck: the Scepter. Since the Scepter is only legal in Vintage and Legacy, you need to compare this deck with the top Vintage and Legacy decks, and this deck unfortunately falls noticeably short. Take a look at my Merfolk or Ravager Affinity decks as examples of what Legacy is like.
Thanks! I've begun to fall inlove with Extended, there are just so mammy possibilities. And Alara is just an amazing block. My only qualm with this deck so far is I can't seem to keep the Knight alive :( Maybe it's because he turns my 2-drops into 6/5s...
