I don't know how no one has realized this yet. . but this combo is bad for the same reasons why iso-chant is bad. Sure you can play silence DURING THEIR UPKEEP, but they still have a chance to respond to the Arcanist activation. Any instant speed removal or bounce, and your combo is over. The fact that Arcanist is a 4 mana 1/1 pretty much guarantee's this combo is unplayable.

Note that you have to actually cast the silence during their upkeep. You can't just say "on the opponents turn" If its the opponents main phase he/ she has priority to play spells before you, so they could play anything they want before you have a chance to silence. and even if you play it during their upkeep they still have a chance to respond with an ability or instant speed spell of their own.

Pretty cool card, but the Discard in board works as wishable disruption or a discard outlet to get fatties in the grave, and is black so you only need one red source available. I did switch Pyroclasm to Dreadbore though, for a way to kill Liliana and hatebears game 1. Im not sure if Chain Lightning would be better though.

I was playing a Legacy Bomberman brew a little while back with a single Meekstone in the maindeck. I was seriously blown away by how powerful that thing actually is!

Whats with Preator's Grasp? That effect for 3 mana seems a little lack luster. I guess every once in a while you'll hit some sorry ANT players Tendrils though. (One of the many reasons i play Burning Wish in my ANT deck ^_^)

This deck looks absurd though... .. . .

Absurdly fun! >:D

This deck looks pretty sick. Contamination is a pretty interesting card. The enchantment version of Bubbling Muck. It seems like it could be pretty nasty once it gets going. Im really surprised your not playing Liliana here? Seems like she would be craazy in this deck.

I have to admit, im a sucker for anything with Winter Orb though.

How has Curse of the Cabal been? Seems like an odd choice, though iv never played with, or against the card myself.

Blitz Reanimator.. That has a nice ring to it. *name changed*

You know what, my friend plays Grisel Cannon in modern, so there is a set of Goryo's Vengeance available. I had debated trying it out, i was just afraid of only having a non-griselbrand target to reanimate with it. If i had access Shallow Grave though, i would probably go all in on Griselbrand and Emrakul.

Careful Study/ Faithless Looting are great. The first draft had Carefull Study as well as Brainstorm + Ponder, but i thought it might be fun to run a little wishboard, so i changed it up. My thought is i can wish for Cabal Therapy if i need a discard outlet, or i can wish for Exhume if i need reanimation, or even Show and Tell if i need to beat grave hate. >:D

Its still possible some faithless looting or careful Study might find their way into the deck though.

delver seems super useless here. to many creatures. to much land. not enough instants and sorceries.

great idea! Im really not feeling Putrid Leach, or Thoughtpicker witch. I suggest Lotleth Troll, and Diregraf Ghoul.

Im pretty sure mortarpod just isnt worth it. What makes Goblin Bombardment so good is that you don't have to pay to activate it. I don't think the mana investment, as well as sacking a creature will be worth it.

If your dropping Mortarpod and Thoughtpicker Witch though, Blood Artist losses alot of his synergy. i would rather play Dark Confidant or Blood Scrivener

here's what i play in modern currently :
http://www.mtgvault.com/alleywayjack/decks/modern-infect/

you'r list looks good, but i don't think go for the throat is necessary.
I tested with distortion strike and personally don't think its needed either. Against tokens, or decks with lots of chumps, rancor and blighted agent always get there.
I like to play giant growth because it can be an offensive spell, but also lets you play around lightning bolt.

You're list really wants the 4th vines of vastwood and maybe another apostles blessing. the UWR decks and other removal heavy decks are infects biggest weakness and you want to make sure you can play around that removal if necessary.

Also get some forests in there. having a guy pathed and not being able to grab a land sucks. Not to mention going overboard with painlands is liable to get you killed

Main: -1 KoTR +1Thespian's Stage
Side: -1 Abrupt Decau +1 Thespian's Stage

I've been able to play this on cockatrice with the m14 rules and it was surprisingly awesome. Having a near uncounterable combo is nothing to scoff at. As usual Marit Lage is incredibly fragile despite his bulk, but the deck just keeps chugging. Often able to make multiple Lages if one gets removed.

Its a very fun deck with alot of play! Seemed like every game i played i got to do fun stuff, win or lose.

I think one of the most awesome things about doomsday is how customizable it is. it seems like even the ddft pros on the storm boards have different lists for varying reasons/ play styles. It has sort a mysterious mystical quality to it. A) because the deck is just insane when it goes off, and B) because there doesn't seem to be any consensus on how this deck should look. there's just so many ways to go with doosmaday. its so awesome.

I updated the how-to with a decent sized list of the basic piles i have been using. i think you might be interested in checking them out. seeing how easy and consistent your piles get with 16 cantrips and Ideas unbound might change your opinion on meditate a little bit ;D

Yeah it seems like virtue's ruin or infest are the go to wishable answers for hatebear decks. i may have to test it out a bit. opening up 2 slots in the board would be great. ive been trying to squeeze time spiral in there, but without chant effect, im not sure i want to be playing that card anyway( although it does open up some pass the turn piles against non blue decks)

as for the reasoning behind no chant effects. well i have been reading the storm board ddft forums for a whiiile, and i saw a recent list that was playing the full discard suite with the full set of probe, and he commented that all the information you get from seeing your opponents hand so frequently makes setting up your combo a alot easier. - The last ddft list i was testing looked alot more like UBW ANT with doomsday, IGG, and chant effects, but i figured if im splashing red, i might as well try out the discard build.

when you play ideas unbound, its better to play lotus petals over cabal ritual, because its (u)(u) casting cost can be awkward. also, with no IGG, cabal ritual becomes alot less necessary. Im a big fan of rain of filth, a one mana cabal ritual seems pretty great to me, so i figured a 3-1 split with petal would be fine.

i think if i set my deck up with some number of infernal tutor over ponder, i could try the wish in the board, but i really think im into the 16 cantrip list right now( if you count SDT) i love being able to rip through my deck finding pieces, or protection, or being able to eat a few discard spells, or counterspells, and still be able to sculpt a winning hand.

you were absolutely right about BW in doomsday though. its a little bit outrageous.. im a sucker for chant effects and IGG loops, but this deck is feeling pretty awesome right now. if only i could pilot this thing better!!
