No. So, effect that puts the 2nd -1/-1 counter on the guy begins to resolve... Guy gets -1/-1 counter (making him a 0/0), at the end of the resolution, state-based actions are checked... And he dies due to having 0 toughness. This check happens immediately after the 2nd -1/-1 counter is added, is unavoidable, and does not use the stack:

I dunno... The insanity of tuning Basilisk, Lavamancer, and Crusader is pretty intense. But Ill say UW is the weakest of the three (prolly couz I'm not great at permission control, which it should be).

I'm working on an Esper list, but I don't quite think I can get enough artifacts to justify Tezz... If I can fit 8-10 in I'd run him. My main problem is making the Esper deck coherent... My UW and BW lists are simply different styles of control :/ I'm thinking I'll just go for tempo though. Stay tuned!

Also, I once played this deck at the local store. G1 I had to explain the combo to a guy. Game 2 goes as follows:

I wish I had room for both Gatekeeper and Tidehollow mb... After about a dozen tests each way I flipped a coin for the one who would be mb. Its that close.

Luminarch is very interesting... but I think Abolisher just wins the control matchup, so its hard to justify adding Luminarch too. Vs aggro, it might be interesting, but I don't think its quite good enough. If its ability cost only {W}, then I think it would make it

Yea, that analysis is mostly inline with what I'm thinking. I'm having trouble with aggro, specifically Affinity and Zoo. A third GSZ sounds nice but where do you put it? And I guess a Teeg over an Extraction SB makes sense
