I have actually witnessed the "panic self-grave hate". It's amusing to say the least, as it's like smiling at a full house in poker. Split Second is indeed an unbelievably powerful ability. If S.E. was as it is but also with Split Second, I can say, with no shame whatsoever, that I would have crapped myself right there.

Without question. My most recent Extraction deck uses I think 2 Surgical Extraction and 1 Extirpate, just in case I need to whip out the big ol' "**** you" that is Split Second.

Extraction, in general, destroys Storm/combo decks. Surgical Extraction is an arguably better Extirpate, as it can be used faster, and in any deck color. Mental Misstep will indeed change competitive play in a large way, but one of the roles it will serve is as protection against Surgical Extraction.

You can just ask WnB...Storm gets trashed by Extraction. =P

Mostly it can crush goblins. Sadly, Goblins are no longer the aggro danger to Extraction, now it's Affinity =/

Chalice helps...But only so much.

Oh, and Torpor Orb just takes a crap on certain Reanimator designs...(sorry)

It's a very high cost for what it does. Also, it just dumps a lot of things into the graveyard, and doesn't exile anything. In Legacy, pulling someone's bigger threats out of their library and putting them into the 'yard can be considered doing them a favor. Overall, I don't like Life's Finale.

Torpor Orb suits games against a specific group of decks and it does very well for that role, but for when I don't play that group, it is much better off in the SB.

Yeah good point. My annoyance with Foresee is that it's the same mana cost as S.A.

Thanks, I'll consider Black for sure. I had mixed feelings on whether I wanted it to be B/U or W/U...So maybe I'll try it the other way. Inkmoth is more of a "plan B" to be honest, but it would suck balls to get a Relic instead of Blightsteel. =/

I also wonder if Phylactery Lich would be fun with this if I ran it B/U, what do you think?

Hey ragged, was wondering if you could check out my deck "Little Chocolate Donuts". It's a Shape Anew deck that I think can do pretty well, but I think with your skill with artifacts and your higher familiarity of standard, you might be able to help. =]

(I can't believe I'm gonna be the one to put this on the top lol, seems ironic)

I guessed 30, so wasn't too far off. Still that's just crazy. It is a powerful card against both Extraction and Reanimator, but still...

Ah that's right. Not much I can say about this really. Lodestone is a nice addition to the package. This deck seems like it's also playing in mud...very messy and slow.

Agree with Necro, PO is what I would put in their place.

I'll put aside my current hostile thoughts for now to tell you that I like this. It's another very good artifact design. I forget what MUD stands for?

Your card base is leaning severely towards mono-black, and I think you'd be much safer shifting over to mono-B

Except for the pulse trackers, I like it. It's a good aggro control design. Well done =]

I think it could actually go both ways. MBE has always been able to play either aggro or control. My buddy's MBE deck "Enigma" has a SB that lets it go between aggro and control, and so it adapts very well to any opponent.

Phyrexian Obliterator is unreal, so if I made a MBE, it would have that thing in both the control design and the aggro.

I not only think so, I expect it. The current top decks in Standard's meta are all so fragile (extractor term) that the introduction of an Extraction into it will be a force to be reckoned with. Extraction is, and always will be, a very powerful deck type. Up until now, very few cards extracted...but then out of nowhere Wizards brings back the deck type with a whole slew of amazing extraction cards.
