Figured it was for the card draw. Also, my brain's been janky lately, so I didn't notice the 7 land combo when I first posted haha. Once I figured it out...http://www.myfacewhen.com/images/552 SfT makes more sense now =P
Personally, I would use Cyclonic Rift in place of Into the Roil. Also, I wonder if a switch to a 2/2 split between Search for Tomorrow and Harrow/Cultivate would work better =/
Well, the Top is one of the trolliest cards in the game, but while it could dodge it I suppose, it would still be an irritation. Most decks that run the Top are some variant of Tempo (or at least use some aspects of Tempo). By forcing them to draw with the Top when they're not 100% ready for it, you shift the tempo away from them...and that can be game changing. Still, the point remains, it's an unstoppable answer to an insane list of Legacy staples. Seriously, go through your mental list of Legacy staples and you'll start to realize how many AD hits.
I think it's the "can't be countered" clause that makes it so appealing to me. Being able to take out Goyf, Teeg, Bob, KotR, SDT, Jitte, etc. while the opponent can do nothing but watch?! Abrupt Decay's flavor text should be changed to "Deal with it!"
When I first posted on this, it wasn't a deck yet, but now that it is, I can comment on it. CAN I GET A HUZZAH?! There's something about Dirt aggro-control that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. It's best shown in the sexy pairing of Thoughtseize, Pernicious Deed, and Abrupt Decay. Those three together is basically saying "Heh, no." =P Bojuka Bog is the one thing that I'm a little iffy about. I'm just not 100% sure you'd need it =/
I have been looking through your list of $10 decks, and I have to say I am very impressed with them. As someone who is always trying to get more and more people to play this game I love, seeing all these cost-effective ideas is great =] Unfortunately, Extraction is notoriously difficult to make budget friendly, with each of the three main forms exceeding one and a half thousand dollars (which is insanely high, but I digress)...but I will say you did well with it. One possible option is to go the route of Thoughtpicker Witch and/or Earwig Squad. Don't quote me on this, but I think those two aren't too expensive.
Really like this budget version. Often when I see "Budget ____" I cringe because I know the deck won't be anywhere near as good, but this one barely lost any of its speed and punch. I especially like the use of Fists of Ironwood, it's perfect for Soulgorger for both supplying the trample he needs so very much, and for supplying munchies for his upkeep! Instead of Wandering Wolf though, I might give Strangleroot Geist...I think they'd be perfect =]
Who taught you how to make Dark Soulstomp? This one is gorgeous =] As for a budget one, I think you can do just fine nixing the Goyfs, but what makes the original Soulstomp design get its "Dark" offspring name **is** Dark Confidant. Otherwise it'll just be some weird bastard child Stompy with black splashed in =/
Glad to see you back dude =]
I have to disagree with you there. Blistercoil provides a steady pace of aggro right from the start. For example, here's a scenario I just had with it: Turn 1 I play Bistercoil, Turn 2 I play hit the opponent with a Bolt and use Distortion Strike on Blistercoil. Turn 3 I play Brainstorm and fetch up Mizzium Mortars (then play it) to remove a blocker. Turn 4 play a second Bolt then flash it back with Snappy. T1 - 0 damage, T2 - 7 damage, T3 - 4 damage and a blocker is gone, T4 - 6 damage
I like it. Been a long time since I've seen a Dingus LD, and honestly, I don't know why the Egg ever fell out of popularity...but I digress =P I personally think you would do much better without the blue, or by replacing the blue with green (for ramp and for the slew of green LD available). My other slight worry is using Dingus Egg with Army Ants and/or the stripmine-crucible combo. You could end up dealing a LOT of unwanted damage to yourself. It's something to think about at least. Hope that helps man =]
I actually couldn't agree more. I am one of the biggest advocates for the fact that Legacy has become WAY too expensive. Also, playing casually is the best way to play in my opinion. It's a card GAME, and by that definition, should be for having fun, and relaxing with your friends =]
With how much draw power she can offer you, I would switch it around to have way more spells, and probably also things like Leyline of Anticipation that grant sorcery spells instant speed. With that set up you'll be able to draw into any number of answers when/if an enemy can attack you. The one big problem with control-based EDH decks is that it IS hard to hold the board under your control against decks with 99 cards. It's possible, but you need to establish a full-blown brutal lockdown, and you said you don't like that. The other thing you could do is fill the deck with tons of Blue/White aggro stuff. Quick little evasive creatures (such as invisible stalker and that kithkin). This way you won't have to rely on Isperia as much, but once you can play her, you'll have a strong board presence of creatures, and if someone dares to attack you, you'll be able to re-fill your hand with more little creatures! As for Gwafa Hazid, my buddy Arty has a Gwafa EDH and he is a very powerful general. If you build a deck around him, the entire board will be under your control very quickly.
Thanks =] This was one I've wanted to do for a while, but up until Doorkeeper came out, there wasn't a real unifying theme to these dudes. I hope more Homonculi are released, as I think it's a cool creature type =]
Oh, by the way, why don't you have the new Dryad in your Dryad tribe? DO EEEEET!
If I get Lotleth in my hand early enough, it's damn near impossible for me to lose hahaha And pop the link below man, I'll check out a karrthas =]
Wow, this is A LOT different from my Ghave deck. Yours is much more about killing your mass produced doods to do crazy shenanigans, where as mine is mostly about making a stupid amount of doods =] I like it, but I am very surprised not to see Skullclamp in here. It's pretty insane with Ghave (or any token EDH really). I would also of course suggest my two EDH stand-bys: Sensei's Divining Top and Sol Ring. Also, thanks for reminding me to put Corpsejack in my Ghave deck =]
I'd actually have an easier time looking over the EDH deck since I don't care much for Standard. Legacy and EDH for me =] The problem with good EDH decks and/or fun and enjoyable (or just 'good') generals is that you run into the issue of wanting to use more than just the 99 slots available. I wish I had room for those cards, but I just can't find anything I'd want to take out in their place =/ I'll probably put all the ones you suggested into a pseudo-sideboard and swap stuff around for what I'm in the mood for =]
Oh trust me, I'm well aware Jarad puts a big target on you, but many of the generals used in my group are like that, so it kind of evens itself out. Also, Jarad is a stupidly good 1 vs 1 general...holy crap =] As for not using Mortivore...the difference is that Bonehoard is so much more useful in this deck. As an equipment I can use it to buff one of my other dudes, get it back with Glissa, or use it as an attacker all on its own!
