Most of the card names have a double meaning. There's the secret names of the cards and theres the sexual reference of the card.

I know there's a program on the net that can decode names like these.
The key is that names like obosh and lutri and lurrus are part of the secret names, as is the letters forming the sexual reference.

I used to be better at cracking anagrams like these.

I'm putting the companions in the sb, just so it will be easy to look at the whole picture.
Lutri the spellchaser has me stumped. It might have been an elemental beaver before it got its type changed, but what about its name? The letters involved can spell "her ass" the leftover letters are then Lutri tspellc.
Hmm, ell spit clur. Lure spit cll. Let her ass spill clur??? Am I missing a letter?
That doesn't make sense so far.

Apex predator means the top predator, so apex must mean on top, which fits the theme
But I'm pretty sure most of the names can be unscrambled to something something her ass.

Did you know about the war between designers and censors ?
I think the lead censor or the ikoria designteam gets fired for this.

Probably because they are mostly a male team, fondling all these cards with big breasted babes never able to catch the real thing ;)

Few know it, but there is an ongoing game between card designers and censors.
The carddesigners try to smuggle indecency past the censors,
And the censors try to find indecencies and send cards back for a return.

The whole mutate series of cards were probably meant as a joke to be caught by the censors. The mechanic in itself, putting one creature on top of another is a giant hint to this.

Take necropanther it's a wordplay on necro panter.
Porcuparrot is a contraction of pork and cuparate.

All of the mutate animals have sexual puns, except for those caught by the censors.
Some are more subtle, trumpeting gnarr is one creature on top of another, trumpeting.
