Manacurves should be explained as early as possible, as new players need to know just how important it is to have enough if you want to win. I usually say 21-22 for aggro, and 23-24 for control. Combo can have as little as 8-12. also recognize that in combo mana is not always lands...

I played with timesifter in a R/G aggro yesterday. People haven't appreciated this design way enough :D
Here's a total out of the blue idea... TIMESIFTER! Yesterday I played an R/G aggro in LEGACY with timesifter in the sideboard. I would play it against opponents without counterspells to gain extra speed. The card is rather fun when your deck features the highest castingcosts, and I had 3-4 turns in a row when it hit and was uninterrupted. The card seems to work pretty well in my deck, where costs are mainly 3cc. You might want to try it out :D TIMESIFTER: 5cc artifact At the beginning of each upkeep, each player exiles the top card of his or her library. The player who exiled the card with the highest converted mana cost takes an extra turn after this one. If two or more players' cards are tied for highest cost, the tied players repeat this process until the tie is broken.
Yeah, would seem so, except i play 8 1cc, 12 2cc, 16 3cc and 3 4cc :D I'm copy/paste suggesting it to mud/12post deckers at the moment...

Heartless/myr is brilliant. Here's some wall of blood tech you might be able to use...
A new green card "life's legacy" lets you sacrifice a creature and draw cards equal to it's pow! Here's my prototype: http://www.mtgvault.com/wickeddarkman/decks/lifes-legacy-wall-of-blood/
add life's legacy
