I would argue that you re controlling the fellowship and its allies, so no demons of shadow and flame for you , boyo!

It is Two towers mainly but because the Return of the King deck is going to be a white soldier deck when finished I wanted to represent the bad guys as completely as I could in this one.

Thanks for taking the time to look and comment, I had almost given up hope someone would. So this is another attempt I did yesterday swapping out a lot of the buffing for instants and sorceries that draw cards or get cast more than once to focus on drawing and activating all the creatures.

Is this spell list any better do you think or do you stand by your original suggestions?

A good friend of mine had a killer sliver deck back in the day and he had a hard time in multiplayer too: everyone would gang up on him before he could get too many slivers out. It was sort of a compliment because we were all terrified of the deck but at the same time it sucked for him.

Here are a few vintage cards I found which might help protect you (I think) but they all have problems:

1) Peacekeeper - Creature — Human 1/1, 2W (3)

At the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice Peacekeeper unless you pay {1}{W}.

Creatures can't attack.

Problem is that it's white.

2) Propoganda - Enchantment, 2U (3)

Creatures can't attack you unless their controller pays {2} for each creature he or she controls that's attacking you.

But it's blue.

3) Koskun Falls - World Enchantment, 2BB (4)

At the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice Koskun Falls unless you tap an untapped creature you control.

Creatures can't attack you unless their controller pays {2} for each creature he or she controls that's attacking you.

The right color at least but you have no creatures....

4) Caltrops - Artifact, 3 (3)

Whenever a creature attacks, Caltrops deals 1 damage to it.

I'm not sure it will be enough of a deterrent, but they do stack so that's something.

Would this concept be improved by Shadowborn Apostle?

Like I mentioned, this is a total work in progress and nothing is sacred. Suggestions wanted!

Thanks for taking a look!

You may want to consider Demon of Death's Gate [9/9 FLying, Trample, You may pay 6 life and sacrifice three black creatures rather than pay Demon of Death's Gate's mana cost.] He's good if you have him in your hand but not enough Apostles.

As anyone looking at decks I design may notice: I love flavor and weird build conditions. If any of you can think of a off the wall artifact or colorless card that fits the flavor here, let me know!

Thanks for looking!

Nifty! Looks awesome :)

Might want to sideboard some reachers or flyers such as Trestle Troll, Wall of Vines, Angelic Wall, Wall of Resistance, or Wall of Reverence.

EDIT I forgot about Wall of Tanglecord and Consulate Skygate. As artifacts their colorless casting cost might make them slip into the deck more easily if/when you have to swap them in if facing a flying deck. And at 2 CMC each they fit with your mana curve.

Cool! Glad I could help :) Also, if you are going that direction then maybe Brave the Sands might be of interest [1{W} Enchantment --- Creatures you control have vigilance and may block an additional creature each combat.]

Cheers!

Maybe its "Holy Wall" as in: "Holy Wall, Batman! That's a lot of defenders!" - Robin probably.

...but probably not.

I love funky themed decks! :) And this is probably not a very serious deck but I have some suggestions if that's ok.

If you want to keep it Mono-White here are some cards for a win condition beside relying on Serra Ascendant: Wakestone Gargoyle [lets you swing with Defenders], Sunweb [a big ass flying defender for 4 I think], Honor of the Pure and Crusade [buff your board for when you do swing]. And come to think of it: Archangel of Thune would be absurd here [when you gain life put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control].

If you splash in Blue, then you can add Doorkeeper [mill opponent based on defenders], and throw in Wall of Air, Plumeveil, Wall of Denial, and Sanctum Plowbeast [has plains and island cycling to help with lands]. Maybe even toss in an Alluring Siren to guarantee they swing with something each turn to keep your life gain up.

If you splash in Red, then tossing in Vent Sentinel gives you some massive damage based on defenders, and you can get some cool defenders like Aether Membrane, Flamewright [makes tokens with defender which you can sac to ping] and red has tons of cards that guarantee you get attacked to maintain your life gain but Basandra, Battle Seraph [kick ass angel with {R} target creature attacks] and Goblin Diplomats [probably the most efficient way to make everything attack] are my two personal favorites. But if you are dead set against creatures without defender then there are plenty of red spells that can do it too!

If you splash in Green, then you get access to the awesome Treefolk shit and then throw in Assault Formation for 2 and your defenders can now assign damage based on their toughness not power. I'll let your imagination run rampant on that one. There are gobs of Treefolk tribal stuff that builds off defender and removes defender and things like that.

Splashing in Black might not get you much at first glance but it'd be evil. You could get things like Souls of the Faultless [like Wall of Hope but they lose life as well as you gaining it] and you'd get things like Wall of Souls [when dealt damage opponent takes damage], Wall of Bone [regenerates for one], Tree of Perdition [swap opponents life total with its toughness], and Wall of Limbs would sync well with your life gaining [when you gain life put a +1/+1 counter on it, then pay like 7 and sac it: deal damage to target player for each counter on Wall of Limbs].

Just some quick thoughts based on my own attempts to do a Green/Black treefolk deck for a friend, a blue defender deck for me once, and a couple quick searches.

Good luck and have fun with your deck!

A thought on making Phylactery Lich a more consistant drop: if you run Dimir Machinations you can always transmute to search for Lich (and its a decent removal spell anyway for when you don't need to search anything).

Any suggestions or comments? Remember this deck is just for fun but if you can think of a Skeleton I missed or a "bone" flavored card be sure to let me know!

Thanks for taking a look!

Yeah Im seriously considering swapping Storage Matrix for Underworld Dreams...

And I really like your uses of Price of Glory, then playing spells they are tempted to counter. Nice.

First playtest I got Splinter on opponents basic mountain on turn four. He only had three lands out at the time. Honestly about turn three or four I can generally kill a land every turn (as long as I have Landshaper of liquimetal coating in my hand). I might have to swap colors to either red, blue, or white for the searching to make it more consistant (b/c green has no artifact searching that I can find).

Interesting take on it. The only trouble with translating the "everyone sacs stuff" mechanic to this deck is they will simply sac the lands and creatures I enchanted to get rid of them, but then again maybe that doesn't matter.

I haven't seen a deck quite like this one before and am open to any suggestions or observations anyone is willing to share. Or any links to similar decks you may know of for inspiration.

Thanks for taking a look!

I must agree with SpliNter about too many creatures to be played too late as well as post my support for Hedron crab in decks like this. So good. My friend runs a mill deck that also uses Hedron Crabs, Halimar excavators, and Jwari Shapeshifters as his low cost creature base.

Nice! Another One Mana deck! I love these things, and good find on the Ferrets by the way. I wound up haveing a whole series of six One Mana decks (one for every color and artifact) because I had so much fun building them.

Here is my green one for comparison: http://www.mtgvault.com/basilicanero/decks/one-mana-series-green/
