Dropped white and returned to my original idea.

You might be right. It's two rough ideas that work mostly because of white. I had high hopes with my initial design, but it's already changed a few times since I've uploaded it and that's mostly because of the strain on my land base. The recursion between Sun Titan and Unburial Rites is potent when run with Splinterfright, but its split the focus of the deck too much and has caused just as many dead hands as it has great hands.

Actually, scratch that about the Countertop deck, my mind is too ripe with ideas to build this one now :P Take a look at the end of my profile, I'll have mine listed in a little bit.

This is pretty damn close to where I was going with my Heartless Summoning design. HS with Glissa and Perilous Myr is pure abuse! Mine, I think, will also splash white for SB tech and Sun Titan to recur some of those cheap beaters, even more abuse with Perilous Myr, and GQ hate. I also want to test out Gavony Township, which may lead me to running a single Primeval. Even if he dies to dismember, the CA he gives you from eating a removal spell and providing 2 GQ is damn good. Before I get to that, however, I'm going to work on a casual Countertop build. I may be able to trade my Vindicates for the shell of the deck, and work on it over time to become more competitive. All depends on the trade, though.

Imo, I don't think you should run more Superion than you are HS. It completely ruins your temp if you don't draw into a HS.

Knock knock.

Nice. Heartless Summoning is one of those cards I'm going after a play set of this set. I think it has potential to become pretty big once somebody figures out how to break it, I just haven't had the time to fit it into a deck yet. Tempered Steel would seem like the obvious choice.

There's a lot of benefit to self milling in Innistrad, in addition to the normal back-and-forth that normally goes on. Not to mention Trepanation Blade which I think could make its way into aggro control. It's a gamble but pays off most of the time, especially against a well shuffled deck that doesn't have many land pockets -- it can stall an opponent at 3-4 mana for most of the game :)

I'll say Ponder is better... for combo. Digging up to 4 cards for 1 is a hell of a lot better than digging 2 for 5, especially when digging is the engine that makes combo run.

Divination also gives you two cards but only for 3, but its only a sorcery, ergo ties up your mana. The extra 2 for Think Twice allows you to pull card advantage when you don't need the mana to answer any threats. I still prefer Visions from Beyond, though.

Peace Strider, maybe? He has peace in his name, and provides 3 life when he enters the battlefield..

If you needed to run something for life gain I'd say Batterskull. It has some synergistic interaction with Venser -- if the germ is killed or tapped, bounce for another untapped token. Would certainly be better than Peace Strider, but not good enough to make it to a tournament, imo.

I thought so. Couldn't remember, I had a judge tell me once that Bad Moon affect creatures that would trigger a power-dependent ETB effect, then later read an errata with a similar circumstance that would contradict that ruling.

And yes, Grand Abolisher is 100% devastating to any form of control. The best thing control can do is respond, and Abolisher shuts that down.

You wouldn't be hurting yourself if you included a fourth Fiend Hunter ;) We're losing Path, but I'll gladly pay another {W} for the same effect and a 1/3 body!

Just beware, I'm pretty sure (but not 100%) that Honor of the Pure increases a creatures power as it enters the battlefield, so that could get in the way of drawing with Mentor.

After seeing how powerful Trepanation Blade can be, I was thinking of building an equipster deck with that and SoBM for casual play. Sword of Fire and Ice is also a power house all by itself, but then shares a bit of synergy with Erasure & Puresteel. It wouldn't be competitive, but I think it'd make a fun agro mill deck for casual games.

I know, right? :P I just found my 4x Elvish Spirit Guides, which spurred me to begin building this again. I should say, I was mostly just expressing a few ideas I wanted to test out before I was kicked off the computer. Some things are still due for change.

That is, Annex could be a very powerful card if you decided to rebuild with blue for the Phantasm. It'd be easier to cast than 3 dedicated mana.

You know, there is a good point to that. Norn's Annex /could/ be worked into the deck. Only thing is it costs too much. Souls of the Faultless for cmc3 is way better than Annex for {3}{PW}{PW}

I know >.> I have two. A Godless Shrine and an Overgrown Tomb. I only drafted about a box total for the entire Ravnica block, now the lands are $20 each. But screw it, one day I'll break down and buy a full set of all the Revised lands.... after I have $3,000 to waste on pieces of cardboard.
