And that's why they play Ancient Grudge in sideboard so you can still win game 2 and 3.

He's playing 4xGreen Sun's Zenith so that equals 7 Melira in needed. Should be enough right?

20 land doesn't seem like it can support your mana curve, and the rituals just give a one time boost. You'll need stuff like Cabal Coffers and/or 4xKorlash, Heir to Blackblade

seems to centered on Hedron Crab, if they kill it before you can clone it you're deck isn't going to do much milling, not against agressive zoo style decks

thanks. In order to make this work in a tournament environment you'll need a few heavy changes. Drop the Isochron Scepters (you don't need them you're a combo deck not a control deck).

The cheat package:

4xAether Vial
4xGrand Abolisher
2-4xSilence

This package will ensure you you can combo out. You'll play silence or vial in abolisher on your turn and then combo out without interference. Up to the point you can do that you'll need to stay alive against fast decks like zoo which probably means packing some lifegain (maybe kitchen Finks or Lone Missionary).

play 3-4xSteelshaper's Gift and 1xHeavy Arbalest, drop Fabricate
play ponder
play 4xCondemn instead of countermagic, you don't need to counter with the above package + either you go full control draw go style or not at all. Playing it half way is extremely difficult.
sideboard wrath of god

If you do go the countermagic way Mana Leak/Rune Snag playing Blue Sun's Zenith will be a better kill then Heavy Arbalest as you'll keep your mana open most of the time to counter and if not you draw cards with Zenith or use it as a kill, it's double duty.
Playing a draw go style deck allows other options as well like Pestermite, Vendilion Clique and Gifts Ungiven. Gifts then opens a Reveillark package that can recur your combo midgame.

anyway, plenty of options. I have an upcomming tournament in a few weeks and I might brew up something based on your build. If you want to stay in touch I'm Seth (moderator) on the forum, send me a PM.

Can someone explain the combo to me? I don't get how you go infinite on turn 3.

yeah zenith is fine, I play it in legacy NO RUG, but I cut down to 3 myself which seems to be enough. Cobra is sick, you should playtest it, I played it in legacy junk and it's such a fast clock. If he stick around next turn playing that extra spell is really worth it. Which reminds me, you should play Elspeth 1, seems like a must have in this deck. Flying Knights, blocking tokens all day long... what's not to like.

Exalted versus a bird that gives black mana is not even the same ballgame. You're mana base will be fine without birds and birds are really bad mid game where Noble Hierarch isn't. Zenith into Hierarch actually puts you on a faster clock that very same turn.

I'm interested myself in a rock/junk build for Modern.

some thoughts:

- Noble Hierarch would be much better then Birds because of exalted which is so important (goyf killing goyf for instance).
- Lotus Cobra can do wonders for junk
- You miss lifegain bigtime. With no access Jitte/Swords to Plowshares/Top Dark Confidant will kill you and the matchup against zoo/RDW is near impossible. Playing Behemoth Sledge helps or something simular, maybe Basilisk Collar.
- Teeg mainboard seems unnecessary.
- Why do you run 25 land in a deck that has a curve of 1-3? It would be fine if you were running baneslayer angel but like this I don't see the point.
- have you concidered a single Scute Mob?
- you can drop a Green Sun's Zenith for more mainboard removal like smother or go for the throat.

sweet deck

some changes I would make

+4xGoblin Guide
-4xNacatl Outlander

+4 Lightning Bolt
-1 Dragon Fodder
-1 Apocalypse Hydra
-1 Mountain
-1 Forest

+4 Sakura-Tribe Elder
-4 Rampant Growth (sakura does exactly the same for the same cost but is so much better)

I would play 4xWerebear in this deck, seems like a must. Mox Diamond would be nice as well but I guess that's way above the budget of this deck. You could play Birds instead?

what negativity? I gave you helpful advice. You say you are a legacy noob, well that isn't going to change if this is your attitude towards people who actually know the format. I'll stay out of your posts in the future.

No brainstorm = blasphemy. You play blue but not the best legacy legal draw spell in the game??? Also you should max out Hymn and play either dark ritual or Chrome Mox (I would go with the mox). Moxen can replace birds.

I haven't really given it that much thought yet. I think I would play

4 Threaten
4 Mark of Mutiny
4 Greater Gargadon
4 Sundial of the Infinite

Maybe go black and add gravepact, blightning, maybe Bloodchief Ascension.... If you go play those scepters You could add Diabolic Edict/Extirpate/Burn as targets. It's less lame then chant and it keeps the deck to 2 colors.

this might be far fetched and maybe to casual for someone willing to play scepter chant but I'm thinking one or two Extractor Demon. You can beat Unearth with Sundial. then again extractor demon isn't that strong a card so it might not be a good way to go.

You could also break Corpse Dance and Heat Shimmer with sundial and both are good spells even without sundial.

I'm with Try4se on this one, playing an illegal deck and calling it casual and fun is stupid. It's not casual to play what is concidered broken beyond compare by tournament rules. Lots of people seem to play illegal decks on this site and I don't see where you would draw the line as to what is legal for you and what is not. If you can play 4 demonic tutors can I play 8? both our decks will be illegal so where do you draw the line? Is it an anything goes system? Can I make up my own cards?

Games need rules in order to function and without them there is no point to playing. The raction to what Try4se stated is childish just like this deckbuild.

I've been wanting to do Final Fortune + Sundial but the risk is just to high. Anything instant speed that stops sundial from activating at the correct time kills you. Playing Threaten would be pretty good, if you have sundial in play threaten can potentially steal creatures and not give them back and if they shoot down Sundial at least you don't die. You should have alternative angles of attack like that, the way the deck works now you can get away with playing it once and after that everyone will be packing hate against your deck and it's so very vulnerable.

Wow Disenchant is good against this deck. Packing 4 disenchant + 4 something simular like naturalize pretty much kills you and you have no way around it. funny :)

Personally I would play 3xJitte. The deck really needs the lifegain Jitte provides.

If you don't already have Sinkhole don't invest in it. It's as good as dead in legacy and replaced by Vindicate + Mox Diamond/Chrome Mox. Sinkhole is not versitile enough and legacy is to fast for it to tip many games in your favour.
I used to run an Eva Green list with Sinkhole and I replaced my sinkholes with Vampire Nighthawk and the deck became so much better. 40$ Sinkhole has been replaced by a 2$ creature, sad but true.

If you have to go for sinkhole land destruction in legacy combine it with 4 Wasteland and 4 stifle and then you are getting somewhere.

Bloodghast is really weak in the format because it can't block. I tested it and not being able to block gets you killed, fast.
