Yeah, welcome to Tournament Magic. Also I've been playing for a pretty long time now and the price of these cards whas a lot lower when I bought them. It's rediculous right now. The same deck costed less then half last year.

you don't run enough land to support your deck

can't you play the geen pact to tutor progenitus and daze as extra counter backup. there is far more hate in legacy then there was in modern.

yeah looks real good. I do think keldon marauders is better then figure of destiny, also the deck will probably work on 18land.

I used to play smother but these days Go for the throat and Dismember are strictly better. Go for the throat kills Tombstalkers and reanimated hight casting cost creatures where smother does not.
Dismember is 1CC removal when it needs to be and that's rare in black. Against goblins for instance you need to kill that lackey turn 1.

cheers

4xBasking Rootwalla and maybe 1-2 Gaea's Cradle would improve the deck much. I would also play more mana dorks (4 Birds + 2 Noble Hierarch for instance).

Plays like Turn 2 play, Wild Mongrel, discard Vengevine, discard Rootwalla and play for madness cost, vengevine comes back from the yard and hits for 4. If you played a turn 1 Noble Hierarch same scenario hist for 5.

or Turn 1 Birds of Paradise, Turn 2 Noble Hierarch and Gaea's Cradle. Tap cradle for 2, play survival and and use the 2 remaining mana to setup Vengevine/Rootwalla combo. Kill turn 3.

... I played this in legacy tournaments before it got banned. It's sick.

So you would not hard cast him even if he is in your hand or in the graveyard. That's just stupid. Birthing pod fills your graveyard, it's easy to hard cast him in this type of deck. On top of that people do shoot down birthing pod first chance they get so I would not bet everything on having an active pod.

There was nothing wrong with the harbors, you just needed islands as well. Put those 4 duals back in + a few islands.

The deck doesn't make any sense. 10 of the 19 creatures you play require creatures to be in your graveyard but you have no way of getting them there so your deck basically is full of dead cards.
I'm pretty sure Rooftop Storm still requires you to pay the additional cost of your many creatures that require you to remove stuff from the yard.
What do you plan to do with Laboratory Maniac??? Wait 60 turns and win?

I just don't get your build so I can't give you any advice.

Your landbase can't support your deck. You can't hard cast Skaab Ruinator which defeats the purpose of running him. You can't even support Mana Leak on those 4 duals and without an island you can't fix your mana base with Solemn Simulacrum.
Your deck doesn't work.

Making something unblockable is usefull if what you are going to attack with is a Knight of the Reliquary or a 5/6 Goyf. Hypnotic Specter is vulnerable to every kind of removal in the format including burn and it's ability to disrupt is only useful early on in the game. I used to run Hypnotic Specter in legacy but recent years even a turn one dark ritual into Hypnotic Specter isn't strong enough, isn't worth running Specters for. They are bad mid/late game against everything except dedicated control. Modern is mostly aggro and doesn't have dark ritual so your specter is always going to be a mid game 2/2 flyer. I seriously doubt his effectiveness and making him unblockable sounds like overkill and a waste of resources.

Isn't Flickerwisp better then Spirit en-Dal? It has Evasion and can blink stuff. With Vial you flash in Wisp and you can steal 2 cards with TideHollow Sculler if you stack it right.
So far you only have a synergy with Sculler (but you could look into more come in play abuse like maybe Fiend Hunter) but you can also save creatures from spot removal or clear the way for your attackers.
Personally I like 2x Mirran Crusader in my legacy version, it's nice with equipment and the pro green is awesome. It's a good clock.

nice build. the sideboard confuses me though. when would you want to side in that many swords? isn't it a better plan to side in hate cards against the current meta like graveyard removal against solar flare.

Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur is the reason Reanimator is a deck again. before that and after the banning of mystical tutor the deck was dead.

Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur is disgusting to play against. What a mistake to print a card like that.

it's to have more fetchland then just 4xPolluted Delta. Why there's only 2 Polluted Delta can have many reasons, them being expensive and not available to the player is the most obvious. Avoiding Pithing Needle or extripate on Polluted Delta can be another reason but it's unlikely.

when I was playing Springjack Shepherd, I played Kitchen Finks and Ajani Goldmane. Kitchen Finks is super value and has 2 white symbols in its cost. Ajani also has 2 white symbols and can boost all your goats.

The deck is very fast but I ended up going for a slightly different 3 color design in the end and took that to a tournament (and won).

I didn't know about Lightning Storm, it's a very interesting card. Strange design too, putting counters on a spell instead of a permanent. I think it could actually work in a life from the loam deck. It's simular to seismic assault in what it does but not as good as it is a one shot spell and it can backfire. You can't play it if you have less cards then your opponent.

thanks for the suggestion!!

both were banned

You can always google the banned list it if you are unsure. If you take this to a tournament you'll be disqualified.

- Ponder is banned in Modern
- It's very hard to go off on a 2 creature combo as most decks in Modern pack a lot of burn spells or at least enough spot removal to break your combo at least once. Once is enough to get you killed as you don't have much defense to slow them down.
