Cackling counterpart. F yeah.

Also this is a really cool deck. Its also pretty close to standard. (For a little while longer at least)

This would be cool with blue splashed for artful dodge or teleportal :) I like the concept a good deal.

Thanks muchly its a big experiment to see what I can do to attack the new most popular decks. I'm predicting a huge surge of esper control and bant decks to show up so I felt that a deck that handles them in a different way than just aggro was necessary this seems to play like those two aren't even there. It focuses on using black control to handle bant and using creatures that are low cost and partial black mixed with burn spells to handle the control decks which can only have so many counters and tend to run doom blade which is horrible against rakdos creatures.

Thanks. I'm still not sure if I should bother competing at all locally with it yet but I'm thinking so long as I don't see terminus I should be okay. What do you think if the blue versus the rwb version?

Record so far

2-0 naya blitz (shock won this game for me)
2-1 american control (I added all four duress for the second and third game and that stole their only way to hold me off)
2-0 esper mill (wasn't much if a fight. I set up and detonated for sixteen damage on turn four)
1-2 tamayo moonsage miracles (terminus killed me both times)
2-0 junk reanimator (not sure what happened here)
Haven't played against anybody else yet but so far I'm doing rather well as long as I don't see any more terminus and I strangely haven't crossed paths with more that one hand deck which is the match I'm worried about with me running doom blade which is useless against them.

Hmmm. I can't help.but shake the feeling that guttersnipe would be happy in here somewhere.

I sense someone is taking this deck too seriously and needs to chill. Every deck has potential to win. This deck is very good for a twenty dollar deck and its not meant to be a serious tournament deck. The creator even says so.

Yeah. It triggers guttersnipe and draws for one mana. The mana cost is very important. The trick to this deck is to trigger guttersnipe as many times in a turn as possible cheap draw is an absolute must.

All very good ideas. I've been experimenting with this deck. The only reason I've been using white was boros charm for its invincible power and combo with guttersnipe to burn for six. This deck has changed completely about a dozen times so far and will likely be black red again shortly. As of now I'm working with grixis colors to run more draw because I keep running out of hand against aggro decks to keep them under control and with control decks their card advantage runs me over if they can keep guttersnipe off the board.

Dispel is definitely a good way to keep kill spells out of the way for that one turn you need to bring them down. And its probably not the only answer they have but it is the one you're most likely to encounter at that point in the game.

I like this deck. One turn after Cyclops comes down and the game is over if they don't answer him right there. If you play first they never get to enough land to aetherize and most decks focus on damage on turn three and four to bother with a defender that most people think is harmless. Even if they do ai. For him red will have trouble without a mizzium mortars or two shocks so a doom blade from black would be one of the few answers In Competitive standard that would take him out.

I see progress :)

Needs four more cards.

Add four dark rituals then test it out :)

Another idea. If you wanna use that massive enchantment I would try adding some counterspell instead of archive trap as that has a chance of being a five drop and although thirteen cards is an awesome chunk of deck I think five mins is too high cost for it to be as awesome as it sounds. And I suggest the counter spells as they will help you to avoid cards like overrun from helping aggro decks to push through. It also can. Sometimes help keep elixir of immortality of the table which is a death sentence to a mill deck.

Also perhaps instead of elite arcanist something like hover barrier or wall of frost to help you not get killed by aggro decks. Arcanist can only copy archive trap and that will consume all your mana which could slow you down. Mind sculpt and time a tomb scour should be more the focus. Try the one with flashback that mills three. Doesn't seem like much till later game when they are down to ten and those last few can be milles by cards in your graveyard that they forgot about.

Perhaps loading xenograft and the merfolk would allow for some counter spells and some other spells to help delay as they aren't key to the deck and xenograft does very little for the deck and has a pretty high cost. Looks like a very good idea and with a bit of tuning it will definitely be a good deck.

Phantasm would help reduce the manager hunger of the deck which will speed it up. Plus it packs a great punch for its cost.
