Wow holy crap welcome back Ethan!I've gone back and forth with both Bob and Blood Scrib, and they both have their high merits to be honest. Bob, as you mentioned, allows for much more consistent draws, but at the cost of more life. It's true that it isn't that much more life, but it does add up. Scrib on the other hand, only hurts me on occasion and more importantly, lets me recover better from aggressive early game moves where I empty my hand. It's not actually about getting the 2 cards a turn. It's about getting those 2 cards after I've played out everything right away and need to keep up the pressure with some answers. It is very much an apples/oranges kind of thing, and that's why Bob is in the Sideboard...I switch those two out back and forth all the time depending on who/what I'm playing.Anyway it's good to see ya again buddy. Are you back on the site for a while, or just checking up?

And yet...Necropotence is still legal in EDH (So I use it in all of my black decks =] )
Nah, these were people that came into my local shop and used it. Only other one I know of that is *posted* here is my buddy Arty's (Quasimofo), but his is a full-on Shirei EDH, not based on Shadowborn...Still, it might give you some ideas. I also think GyKx might have a list =/
I've played against one of these new Shadowborn Apostle/Shirei EDH designs, and I'll be honest, I was very skeptical about how effective a deck like this could be. Turns out, they're pretty legitimate decks...they get out demons quick, and with the right support, can be a real hassle.
I know...It would have been great! There's some other creatures printed recently where I just look at them and think, "Why isn't this a treefolk?"
When Chimney Imp is a win-con, you know you're doing something right.
It's good, but I'm not so sure about Liliana. I think you could do a lot more with those 3 slots than her. The rest looks good though =]
Well, I know this might not be the answer you were hoping for, but there isn't really a best draw. There almost never is for control decks. Aggro decks clearly have best hands as those "god hands" lead to the most damage potential in the shortest time. Same with combo decks, but instead of creature damage, they have spells. Control decks, even Extraction, are very reactive instead of proactive...Different decks require different methods to control.Let me know when you have your list up and running though, I'd love to take a look at it =]
=D Extraction takes another victim.
Dark Depths and Thespian's Stage...Lands should not be allowed to do that =[At least now you can tell judges "...beating the shit out of them with Marit Lage"
Yeah absolutely. Cradle just adds a hefty boost in the speed of the deck, but even running just forests in its place works, the deck is still plenty fast. I often find that when I play this and I get cradle out, I have TOO much mana available...so you absolutely don't NEED it, I just happen to own them so I just put them in.As to things that could replace it...there really are no lands that match Cradle...that's why it's so damn expensive. If I were you, I'd just run forests in their place or a land that is just fun for you to use.
I have considered her yeah. I just can't find a place I would like to put her in place of things I already have. Also, I used Soul Link because of its wording and its dual "you gain life" clauses, I can use it to shut down one of the opponents' big threats. Also it's both Black and White, which means it has more use for cards that benefit from that.
Wow, that sucks dude. Hopefully school will take it easier on you now. Playing Big Pox is a sure fire way to have all 30+ people shift all their attention to you haha. I actually take a big risk running Smallpox to be honest, but I have 2 in anyway because sometimes you need to be a griefer, no matter the outcome.
Please remind me to look at this man. Right now I just don't have the time, but I WANT to look it over, so be sure to remind me =]
It is technically casual, but our shop has recently been hosting these multi-store (As in, residents of about 5-6 other shops show up) MASSIVE multiplayer games. We're talking games with upwards of 30 people playing at once. In those games, this deck is not all that casual anymore. When you extort once and get 30+ life from it, you know you're doing something well =]Sorry to hear you aren't Magic-ing it up man, watchoo been up to?
I'll be happy to help, sure =]Black Sacrifice is still pretty damn fast yeah, and it remains one of my favorites for some reason. The deck STYLE I enjoy the most is called Extraction, but if you're new to MTG, I would NOT recommend it haha.
I didn't want to do the infinite combo of Exquisite Blood with Sanguine Bond simply because this deck is meant for more casual stuff. Sign in Blood could be good though, I'll have to try it out. Thanks =]
Once this thing goes out of standard I think you'll be able to make a very interesting Burn/Extraction kinda thingy (I mean more interesting than it already is).The unfortunate thing is, the only card in standard that you can genuinely call extraction is Slaughter Games, so you have to go with what ya have, which I think you have done well...Only thing is that Thundermaw seems really weird in here to me.
Actually, it wasn't me, but quite frankly man...Listing a bunch of cards that could beat a deck is not helpful. If anything, it's kinda 'rude'. It's kind of ironic we're talking about this, because GyKx has a 'deck' about how you could take that list of cards that beat a deck and change it into a list of constructive criticism.I'm not going to give it a -1 because I don't think you *meant* it to be rude or unhelpful, etc. but all the same, you should try to work on that kind of thing, because clearly someone did.EDIT: GyKx *HAD* a deck about it, was moved to private or something.
Obviously there are cards that give this idea problems, but I think you knew that going in to building a silly EDH of this type. Besides, if you're building an EDH deck with winning as the one and only intent, then you shouldn't be playing EDH. Personally I would use a few different demons, but honestly that's probably just personal preference. I think you could put in some other stuff that could ramp you up some more black mana so your Apostle spam can go faster. You could also put in things like Grave Pact so that when you sac the dudes you wipe the board (they lose six creatures and you get a demon? Sounds like a nice trade to me). You could even put in Pawn of Ulamog so you get eldrazi spawn tokens each time you sac those Apostles...That could give you secondary mana to hardcast some more demons. Obviously one big issue this deck can have is that it can totally whiff. Even with Thrumming Stone out you have a chance of everything sputtering out. I'll be honest, I don't know of too many ways to prevent these "whiffs", but again, I don't think you meant for this to be entirely serious. I would love to play against something like this, because I can just imagine it going off and how hilarious it would be.Hope that helps =]
